Web Services management structure

Head of Web Services (Alison Kerwin)

Key responsibilities:
  • Setting the direction for Web Services
  • Prioritising projects
  • Representing Web Services at a Senior Level (Student Recruitment and Marketing Group, Marketing Communications Executive, Induction Working Group, Marketing Forum, IT Priorities Group,)
  • Initial contact for new projects
  • Oversight of the overarching structure of the external and internal website(s)
  • Leading on the development of strategies for communicating with key stakeholder groups (specifically in relation to recruitment and reputation)
Line management of:
  • Web Development Manager
  • Web Content Manager
Responsible for:
  • Web Services team
Reports and responsible to:
  • Director of Marketing and Communications

Web Development Manager (Phil Wilson)

Key responsibilities:
  • Managing the technical infrastructure / framework for the delivery of Web Services
  • Scoping development projects
  • Liaison with technical BUCS colleagues
  • Implementing and maintaining coding standards
  • Managing Web Support
  • The workloads and activities of the Web Developers
  • Day to day project management of Web Services development projects
Line management of:
  • Web Developer (Tom Natt)
  • Web Developer (Kelvin Gan)
  • Web Developer (Tom Trentham)
  • Front-end Developer (Vacant post - not yet advertised)
  • Web Supporter (Chris Shimmin-Vincent)
Reports and responsible to:
  • Head of Web Services

Web Content Manager (Richard Prowse)

Key responsibilities:
  • Development and implementation of the strategies for communicating with key stakeholder groups (specifically in relation to recruitment and reputation)
  • Scoping content/architecture projects
  • Management and further development of the Framework of Standards and Online Visual Identity (in consultation with the Head of Web Services)
  • Management of Web Training
  • Key contact for Faculty Web Editors
  • The workloads and activities of the Web Editors, Coordinators and Web Designer
  • Day to day project management of Web Services content projects
Line management of:
  • Web Designer (Liam McMurray)
  • Web Content Editor - Study (Jenni Taylor - currently on long term sick leave expected to return July 2012)
  • Web Content Editor - Research (Vacant post - currently advertised)
  • Web Content Editor - Internal (Vacant post - currently advertised)
  • Web Content Editor - Internal (Vacant 12 month fixed term post - not yet advertised)
