The Board of Studies is responsible to Senate for all matters relating to the organisation of education, teaching and research in the Faculty, including all examination matters.
The Faculty Executive Committee is chaired by the Dean of Science. This monthly meeting of Science Heads of Department, Associate Deans and other key personnel in the Faculty of Science takes place from October to July.
It has been agreed, under the Freedom of Information Act, that minutes of these meetings are not posted on the web, due to the nature of the business transacted.
The Faculty Teaching and Quality Committee is responsible to the Board of Studies for the academic standards and quality of the Faculty's undergraduate and postgraduate taught provision.
The Faculty Research Committee is responsible to the Board of Studies for the academic standards and quality of the Faculty's research activities.
The Faculty Research Students' Committee is responsible to the Board of Studies for overseeing all matters concerning postgraduate research students, including progression, statistical performance indicators, systematic analysis of feedback, induction, generic skills training, supervision, recruitment and admissions, taught components of research degrees.
The Graduate School Committee is responsible to the Board of Studies for oversight of the Science Graduate School and the oversight of all postgraduate taught and postgraduate research provision in the Faculty.
In accordance with Regulation 17 (pdf ), the Chair of the Faculty Board of Studies is responsible for the consideration of all student requests for reviews of results and assessments. The Committee is convened on an ad hoc basis when required.
