The Latex package showkeys

When drafting a report it is occasionally useful to be able to see the labels you have given your equations, figures, sections or citations in your Latex code in the pdf document.  This can be done with the following code in your Latex preamble.

\usepackage{showkeys}

Some of the information this package displays can be more irritating than useful so you can remove the irritating bits with

\usepackage[notref,notcite]{showkeys}

instead.

Alternatively you can make the keys grey like this:

\usepackage{xcolor}
\usepackage[color]{showkeys}
\definecolor{refkey}{gray}{.45}
\definecolor{labelkey}{gray}{.45}

and if even this is too annoying for you, ask Peter Moerters for the showkeys-hara package, which makes the labels tiny.

More information can be found at http://www.ctan.org/tex-archive/macros/latex/required/tools/showkeys.pdf.
