Groups are used for sharing your files with other people.

  1. Creating a group

    • Click on Your Groups.
    • On the right of the page you will see the option to create a new group.
    • Enter a group name and description, and choose Members only, University of Bath or Global to decide who can access this group. See more details on group types.
    • Click on Create group.
  2. Managing groups

    If you are a Group Administrator you can perform various tasks. These include:
    • adding and removing members
    • changing the group name or description
    • making other members Group Administrators
    • relinquishing your own admin rights if you so wish.
  3. Adding a user to a group

    • Under Your Groups, click on the relevant group.
    • Under Admin, click on Manage group.
    • Under Add a member type in the BUCS username of the person you wish to add to the group. Then click on Find.
    • Click in the tick box to the right of the person?s username to select them.
    • Click on Create member.
  4. Removing a person from a group

    • Under Your Groups, click on the relevant group.
    • Under Admin click on Manage group.
    • Towards the bottom of the screen you will see a list of members of the group.
    • Click in the box to the right of the member(s) you wish to remove.
    • Click on Remove member(s).
  5. Changing the group name or description

    • Under Your Groups, click on the relevant group.
    • Under Admin click on Manage group.
    • Type in the new group name and/or description.
    • Click on Save changes.
  6. Make another group member administrator

    • Under Your Groups, click on the relevant group.
    • Under Admin click on Manage group.
    • In the members section click in the box to the right of the person's name.
    • Click on Make admin.
  7. Relinquish your own admin rights

    • Under Your Groups, click on the relevant group.
    • Under Admin, click on Manage group.
    • At the bottom of the page under Relinquish admin rights click on Drop my group admin rights.
  8. Joining a public group

    • Under Your Groups, click on the public group that you wish to join.
    • Click on Join this group.
  9. Leaving a group

    • Under Your groups click on the group that you wish to leave.
    • Click on Leave this group.
