Moodle has a useful text editor orATTO editor which appears when creating and editing a range of Activities & Resources.

As shown below, the toolbars contain a number of icons and functions, many of which should be familiar to anyone who uses word processing software. A full description of the functionality of the HTML editor can be found on Moodle Docs.


Quite often, the text in the HTML editor (or in Moodle course, upon pressing Save) does not display correctly. This issue relates to Moodle users copying and pasting in text, images and tables from Microsoft Word.

It is advisable that you paste the text from Word into the NotePad tool found on Windows PC's (or TextEdit if using a Mac). This will then remove any formatting which may cause the formatting on the Moodle course page to go awry.
