Occasionally, you may need to test an application in the production environment to check your updates. There are a few quick changes that can be made to allow this:
Ensure that the database, username and password variables in the production block are identical to those from the development block.
Again, just update the production block to use the secret_key_base value from the development block.
With those two files updated, we should now be able to force the environment to production on our local machine. In your console, run
rails s -e production to start up the server, or
rails c -e production for the console.
